An overview map of the city. Yes, it is in the shape of an airplane, and no, I have no idea why. The tail of the airplane is where the military is located. Apartments are located on the wings, and the business sector is in the center where the wings and the body meet. The government sector is located at the cockpit. The tail section is at a higher elevation to show that the plane is landing.

A scale model of the city.

The president's house. Notice that there is no fence around it; however, approaching any closer than the guard post (where this picture was taken) would result in a lot of shouting and possibly a bullet in the back. We opted to stay back.

The view from my hotel. The hotel is in the business sector of the city. My room faced the lake, away from downtown.

Igreja Dom Bosco, nicknamed the "Blue Church" for obvious reasons. The chandelier can be removed, and the ceiling can then be opened for repairs. The humidity levels vary greatly between the dry and wet seasons, so the ceiling is made from a cardboard-like material instead of concrete, which would crack due to the amount of expansion and contraction. The ceiling is replaced every few years.

The "Crown Church", outside and inside. The angels on the inside are sculptures hanging from the ceiling.

The speaking platform for the military marches. The platform is in the shape of a sword.
